The Forging of UK – Malaysia relations

This event was organised & sponsored under Malaysian Link UK, at the Malaysian High Commission on the 17th March 2009 when the Conservatives were in opposition. We  wanted then, that the future Conservative Government to engage well & place Malaysia & ASEAN in their radar screen. Our then High Commissioner H.E Dato Aziz, was supportive of this aim hence, he agreed to host the event at the High Comm.
At that event, 3 prominent Shadow Cabinet Ministers, were in attendance & we took a pledge from the them, that when the Conservatives take over the Government they would place Malaysia & ASEAN in their radar screen. The rest is history.  MLUK was instrumental in some measure of forging & initiating then-way back in 2009 linking the UK & the Conservative Party, which under David Cameron swept into power. Since then relations with Malaysia & ASEAN have been very cordial and close.
